FTP (File Transfer Protocol) accounts allow you or others to upload and manage files on your website. You might create a separate FTP account for a developer to limit their access to a specific folder.

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Log in to cPanel.

  2. In the "Files" section, click on "FTP Accounts."

  3. Create a New Account:

    • Login: Enter a username (e.g., developer).

    • Domain: Select the domain this account will have access to (if applicable).

    • Password: Enter a strong password or use the Password Generator.

    • Directory: This is important for security. By default, it will point to the user's home directory. To restrict them to a specific folder (e.g., public_html/project), enter that path.

    • Quota: Set a disk space limit for this FTP user, or set to "Unlimited."

  4. Click "Create FTP Account."

Using the FTP Account:
You will now have FTP credentials:

  • Host: yourdomain.com or your server IP.

  • Username: The full username (e.g., developer@yourdomain.com or yourmaincpaneluser_developer).

  • Password: The password you set.

  • Port: 21

Share these credentials with your developer. They can connect using an FTP client like FileZilla.

Managing Accounts:
On the same page, you can delete accounts, change passwords, or modify quotas.
