Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security by requiring a one-time code from your phone in addition to your password. This prevents hackers from logging in even if they steal your password.
For cPanel/Email Accounts:
cPanel offers 2FA for your hosting control panel login.
-
Log in to your cPanel.
-
In the "Preferences" section, click on "Two-Factor Authentication."
-
Click "Set Up Two-Factor Authentication."
-
Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (like Google Authenticator or Authy).
-
Enter the 6-digit code from your app to verify.
-
Download the backup codes and store them safely. You will need these if you lose your phone.
For WordPress:
-
Install a security plugin like Wordfence, iThemes Security, or Google Authenticator.
-
Go to the plugin's settings (usually under "Security" or "Users" ).
-
Follow the prompts to scan a QR code with your authenticator app.
-
Save the settings. Now, logging into WordPress will require your password + a code.
