If your site breaks due to an update, hack, or accidental error, you can restore it from a backup. The method depends on how you created the backup.
Method 1: Restore Using a Plugin (e.g., UpdraftPlus)
This is the easiest method if you used a backup plugin.
-
If you can access your WordPress admin, go to the plugin (e.g., UpdraftPlus > Existing Backups).
-
Find the backup you want to restore and click the "Restore" button.
-
Select which components to restore (usually all files and the database).
-
Confirm and let the plugin do its work.
-
If you cannot access your admin, you may need to reinstall the plugin via FTP or use the plugin's special restore script.
Method 2: Manual Restore via cPanel
If you have manual backups from cPanel:
-
Files: Go to cPanel > File Manager >
public_html. Upload your backup ZIP file, extract it, and overwrite all files. -
Database: Go to cPanel > phpMyAdmin. Select your WordPress database. Click the "Import" tab. Choose your saved SQL file and click "Go." This will overwrite your current database content.
Method 3: Contact BurjHost Support
If you are uncomfortable with manual restores or your site is completely down, open a support ticket. If we have recent server-level backups, we may be able to restore your site for you.
