The Safe Update Checklist:
Step 1: Backup First (Crucial!)
Before any update, create a full backup of your site. (See Article 49 on how to back up WordPress). If something breaks, you can restore it immediately.
Step 2: Update Plugins and Themes

Go to Dashboard > Updates.

Step 3: Update WordPress Core

When a new WordPress version is available, you will see a banner at the top of your dashboard.
