You just changed your nameservers or DNS records, but your website isn't loading, or it's showing an old page. Don't panic—this is usually temporary.
Common Reasons & Fixes:
1. DNS Propagation (The Most Common Reason)
-
The Issue: When you change DNS, this information needs to spread across the entire internet. This is called propagation.
-
The Fix: Wait. It can take 24 to 48 hours for everyone in the world to see your new site. Your site might work on your phone data but not your home WiFi, or vice versa. This is normal during propagation.
2. You Forgot to Clear Your Cache
-
The Issue: Your computer or browser might be storing an old version of the site or old DNS data.
-
The Fix: Clear your browser cache. You can also flush your local DNS cache (Google "flush DNS" for your operating system).
3. The Domain is Not Added in cPanel
-
The Issue: If you pointed nameservers but didn't add the domain as an Addon Domain in cPanel, the server doesn't know which folder to load.
-
The Fix: Log in to cPanel and ensure the domain is listed under "Addon Domains" or "Aliases."
4. Missing or Incorrect A Record
-
The Issue: If you are managing your own DNS zone, the A record might be pointing to the wrong IP address.
-
The Fix: Check your A record in cPanel's "Zone Editor" and ensure it points to the correct server IP.
